My name is Ah Yee Watters. I am a qualified Primary School Teacher and have been teaching 3-7 year olds for 12 years. I was trained to teach all subjects including music, I mainly taught percussion instruments to my loyal subjects over my 12 years of teaching. But as we evolved into the 21st century, technology has taken over our classrooms and the need for music has declined!
KidsRocK has rekindled a passion for adults (including me) and their children everywhere, whereby children can have both enjoyment and learn new life skills! Instead of tapping at buttons, staring at whiteboards, they can handle and experience real life music to enhance their own learning.
As I became an adult ‘KidsRocKer’ I was amazed by the amount of work and effort put into the planning and delivery. I am still learning new songs and experiences myself as well as learning the guitar again! I haven’t played since high school. In the past I have dabbled in instruments such as the clarinet and piano (hoping now I can learn to play it properly when Chris can fit me in!).
When I am not KidsrocKing, I like baking, singing to my dog and kids (although they often complain about my karoke on the Wii!) or work as a ‘mum’s taxi’ for my 2 daughters, Josie (11) and Lori (6½). I love watching and singing to Mama Mia and Les Miserable (the films) but I can’t wait to watch them on stage too but I don’t think they will allow me to sing along!
I also take classes for adults with special needs.
